This is Part One of a Two Part Story!
First of all, let me mention that I grew up with three older brothers and two wonderful parents in Wilmington, DE. Once a week, every week, my parents would go out and play cards with different family friends. Many times that would leave the four of us kids home by ourselves.
Meanwhile, my dad had built a a large closet between the dining room and kitchen with a large square hole inside so my mother could use it for a laundry shoot to the basement. One time, after my parents left to play cards, I asked the two older brothers, Ted and Sonny, "where is my brother Jim?" They answered me by saying, "he is down in the basement." I thought to myself that it was odd because there were no lights on in the basement. I turned on the lights, went down and found my poor brother, Jim, hanging upside down. I was extremely angry and said, "have you both lost your minds? As soon as mom and dad come home I'm telling them what you did to him." They both replied that they would get him down immediately.
Five minutes later, both Ted and Sonny picked me up and pushed me down the laundry chute and I loved it because my mother had left a laundry basket with clothes at the bottom. I loved it and ran upstairs and told them, “please do it again!”
